Named in honour of the renowned eighteenth century road builder, Thomas Telford, Shropshire first county surveyor, Telford new town was built in 1968. Telford's high-tech and modern technology marks it out as very much the a town of the future, and this is no more evident than in its forward thinking approach to shopping.
The 450- acre Telford Town Park is an ideal location for a relaxing family day out. With play areas for children, nature trails, sports pitches, a lake side amphitheatre and beautiful gardens. Just right for children is the incredible wonderland, an enchanting woodland within the park where nursery rhymes and fairy stories come to life, with favourite attraction including Snow Whites cottage, Little Red Riding Hood, The Crooked House and The Three Little Pigs, as well as the spectacular Wrekin Giant.
The central focus of the town is The Telford Shopping Centre. This is Shropshire largest shopping centre and combines 120 stores under one roof, and provides free parking for over four thousand cars. The centre is accessible for all - from busy modern day mums with pushchairs and toddlers to the elderly and disabled. And the Telford Shopping Centre is just the beginning. Visitors to the town will find Top Rank Bingo, Telford Ice Rink, Oakengates Theatre, and a ten screen UCI Cinema adjacent to which is the Deep Pan Pizza Restaurant
